Treasurer’s report for YTD 25/26 budget Jessica
Whites – Town Beach parking passes. Rosemary has notified Naomi that the number of non resident passes for White’s Beach be increased from 75 to 80 for $50 each. The resident passes will remain at $5 with two passes per household. What happens to that money? Could it be used for the security and/or port-a-lets?
New Town Park Summary for posting to Town Website – Phil to report on discussion with Nate about the design to request an overlay of the town park superimposed with proposed housing development and express our concerns about noise and privacy.
Rec Commission Key Activities and Business Calendar: Dylan and Phil to report on a calendar with activity dates, responsibilities, vendor names, contact info, etc. Does the town have a google account for this?
New town park naming suggestion: Phil to report on his discussion with David Carter for approval from the selectboard to submit a survey to the town for choosing the name of the park. Current suggestions: The Village Green, South Hero Village Green, South Hero Town Park, Community Park of South Hero.
Guy: Whites Beach: Guy shared screen with plan. Removal of dying trees. Bioengineered shoreline, native trees and shrubs planting, erosion protection. Land trust is working with Fitzgerald Environmental LLC. 60 % design will be presented at town meeting. Project could qualify for grants/ EPA federal funding
Island Acres trail starting this summer. Guy to expand at the next meeting. SHLT hosted a snowshoe event Feb 21 at Island Acres.
Items for next meeting
Sledding Hill, Town Line Rd. Continue discussion from last year. Rosemary emailed Jeff Sikora and did not hear back. Should we table this until next winter?
b.Pergola for beach: Carol, potentially good use of the 1% local tax $. More research will be done by Carol. A proposal is required to receive funding.
c. Other SHRC projects/proposals for the 1% food and beverage tax.
d. Upcoming events? Other business?
