Recreation Commission, June 13, 2023 Members present: Phil Scott, Rosemary Zamore, Jeff Sikora, Peter Johnson, Marion Palermo, David Lane, Guy Maguire, Jessica Jackson 1. Call to order, 7:08 pm 2. Adjustments to the agenda 3.Acknowledgment of previous meeting minutes 4. Public input · Jeff Sikora and Peter Johnson – sliding (sledding) hill at the corner of Town Line Road and Sweeney Farm Road. Goal- to keep the hill open. Tragedy waiting to happen. Proposed small Winter parking Nov- March. Discussion on easement and the liability. · Trail Cam installation – Guy McGuire from South Hero Land Trust. Story walk has been vandalized. Could also be an advantage to see wildlife. Confirm signage and location. 5. Discussion Items · Update regarding ARPA Funds request for Town Beach Renovation – Phil- $130,000 Town Park, (leveling, driveway, landscaping), $15,500 for Beach renovation, $12,000 Boardwalk. · 22/23 budget update, current balance, committed/uncommitted budget – David Lane. $19,000 spent. Port-a-lets, parking attendants need to be paid for. Approved for $1800 for gravel. · Town Beach renovations. Discuss the idea of a Town Beach event or gathering with a Food Truck. Will revisit for the next meeting. · Tryathlon planning – Jessica reworded statement on brochure. Swim Lessons- Carol has signed up one and more are pending. Learn to Sail Program – Phil. It is set up and ready to go. · Boater Safety – Phil will send info. · SHRC Booth at Cheers and Cheese Event, 4-6 pm, June 26. Review brochure, popcorn maker, SHRC booth, staffing. · Family Bike Excursions: June 29, July 26, August 11 · LCIEDC- Lake Champlain Islands Development Committee. Making awareness commercials. 6.
