WASTEWATER COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF A MEETING ON April 25, 2022
Committee members present:
Peter Zamore, chair, George Harwood, Mike Gammal Nate Hayward, Bob Buermann, Ross Brown; Greta Brunswick, NWRPC; Joan Falco and Robert Firevoid, members of the public.
- Minutes of the previous meeting were approved,
- Motion by Bob Buermann, second by Ross Brown
- Greta informed us that the cost of the engineering contract will increase by $4,000 to allow for an archeological survey.
- Ross pointed out the importance of outreach for the wastewater project
- Greta announced that the surveys were completed and sent out. The mailing may have exceeded the Village boundaries in that some surveys were sent to residence of Dubuque Lane.
- Peter informed us of the conversation that he had with Charlie Hancock of Montgomery, who had participated in a similar wastewater project. Peter indicated that the escalation of cost prior to the commencement of construction caused concern. Montgomery funded the construction costs in the amount of $11.9 million dollars through various avenues including: Federal Funds, a loan, adoption of a local option tax, and the establishment of a special assessment district.
- The 166 users of the system will each pay $375.00 in debt service.
- Montgomery attempted to address 8 failed septic systems and a polluted stream
- Further discussion ensued. The meeting adjourned at 5:02 pm.
- The next meeting is May 9, 2022.
