Selectboard Minutes
Special Meeting of Monday January 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM
At South Hero Town Hall and via Zoom
Board Members Present: David Carter/Chairman, David Lane/Vice Chairman Skip Brown/Board Secretary, Steve Robinson, Anne Zolotas
Board Members Not Present: none
Others Present: Town Personnel: Naomi King/Town Clerk, Kim Julow/Treasurer. Public: Tim Maxham
1. Called to Order:
– The meeting was called to order by Chairman David Carter at 4:00 pm.
2. New Business:
A. The general Town budgets were discussed-
-Skip Brown made a motion to accept and initial the final draft of the general Town budget. The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
-Skip Brown made a motion to accept and initial the final draft of the Highway budget. The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
B. The articles 1-11 to be voted on Town Meeting Day were discussed-
-Treasurer Kim Julow advised that she will publicize the reasoning for the wording and of some of the articles that will be voted on.
-There will be mailing from the Town Hall building committee explaining the article for the bond vote for a potential new Town Hall.
-David Lane made a motion to approve and sign the “Official Warning-Annual Town Meeting Town of South Hero-Tuesday March 4, 2025”. See Attached * Articles2025 The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
3. Other Business:
A. Tim Maxham advised the Board that the school budget for the Folsom and the high school students was finalized. Note that the School Board has kept the cost for each equalized student below the penalty threshold. Note that the number of equalized students is a State mandated number and does not reflect the actual number of South Hero students educated.
4. Adjournment:
-Steve Robinson made a motion to adjourn at 8:40 pm. The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
