Selectboard Minutes
Special Meeting of Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM
At South Hero Town Hall and via Zoom
Board Members Present: David Carter/Chairman, Skip Brown/Board Secretary, Steve Robinson, Anne Zolotas, David Lane
Board Members Not Present: n/a
Other Town personnel Present: Kim Julow, Treasurer
1. Called to Order:
– The meeting was called to order by Chairman David Carter at 6:00 pm.
2. Adjustment to Agenda:
– none
3. Public input:
A. Due to the expected very cold temperatures and windchills this weekend, David Carter has asked the Trustees at the Congregational Church of Sout Hero if the building can be used as a warming shelter. More info to follow.
B. David Carter attended the Grand Isle County budget hearing. Since the State bases the dues of each Town on the Grand List figures, South Hero has the largest budget amount of approx. $198,300.00 this fiscal year. As a comparison, Alburgh has a larger population and uses more services than any Town in the County. Their budget amount is approx. $100,000.00. This seems somewhat unfair that it not based on population or use of the services. David will ask our State representatives to look into the statue and see if they can work on more equitable population-based solution.
4. New Business:
A. The articles for the Town Report were reviewed with the Treasurer. Anne Zolotas made a motion to approve and have the Board sign the Articles for the Town Report. See Attached * Warning Artcles Town 2026 The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
B. David Lane made a motion to accept and to have the Board initial the Town and Highway budgets. The motion was seconded, all in attendance so voted and the motion carried.
